1,2,3-Triazoles Fused to Aromatic Rings

The structure, synthesis, reactivity and applications of 1,2,3-triazoles fused to aromatic rings are described. These compounds have been classified in two groups by a structural approach: (a) fused 1,2,3-triazoles without a bridgehead nitrogen atom and (b) fused 1,2,3-triazoles with a bridgehead nitrogen atom. Although both systems present a similar structure, the synthetic procedures and their reactivity are different.
Dominant and emerging approaches in the study of higher education policy change

The purpose of the article is to analyse recent literature on higher education policy change. Based on the review, three different approaches are distinguished: structural, actor and agency. In the structural approach the dynamic of policy change originates in well-established structures. The actor approach focuses on either individual or institutional actors as the drivers of policy change. The agency approach understands higher education policy change as an interactive process between various actors and domains within transient structures. Gilliéron, Jules (1854–1926)

Jules Gillieron, born in Switzerland, became a professor of dialectology in Paris and thus the founder of the scientific dialectology in France. A dialect grammar and a phonetic atlas of the Roman Valais, both published in 1880, were expanded to the huge Linguistic atlas of France (ALF), published with E Edmont 1902–1910. Permanent explanatory notes and valuable monographs as interpretations of the maps supplemented the atlas. ‘Dialect’ was considered as a linguistic system with signs having an expression plane and a content plane—a structural approach.
Wenker, Georg (1852–1911)

Georg Wenker (1852–1911) was the founder of a) dialect cartography and b) of the ‘indirect method’ in dialectology. From the very beginning (1877), his maps were empirically based on some 40 Standard German sentences, the so-called 40 ‘Wenker sentences,’ composed under prestructural aspects with regard to the historical grammar and, consequently, to the structural approach to dialects in the Kleiner Deutscher Sprachatlas (see Veith et al., 1984–1999). Abstract Discourse markers have a central role in planning and repairing processes of speech production. They relate with fluency and disfluency phenomena such as pauses, repetitions and reformulations. Their polyfunctionality is challenging and few form-function mappings are stable cross-linguistically. This study combines a functional and a structural approach to discourse markers and their combination with and within repetitions and self-repairs in native English, French and Spanish, in order to establish the inter-relation between these three fluency-related devices and to find potentially universal patterns of use.
